History, sea views and flexible coastal stops without an early-morning departure.
The experience
Best for an easy full day from Bentota. The route combines a responsible turtle-conservation stop, UNESCO-listed Galle Fort and flexible time for lunch, shops or beaches, with far less driving than the inland excursions.
Your day
Stop 1
Begin after breakfast and travel south along the coast.
Stop 2
Visit a local turtle conservation project where guests can learn about Sri Lanka's sea turtles and the challenges facing nesting populations.
Stop 3
Walk through the UNESCO-listed fort district. See the lighthouse, old churches, colonial buildings and sea-facing ramparts while learning about Portuguese, Dutch and British influence.
Stop 4
Enjoy lunch, browse small shops or stop at a cafe inside the fort.
Stop 5
Depending on time, stop at viewpoints or beaches on the return journey and arrive back at your hotel during the late afternoon or early evening.
